And more specifically, for the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/college-football\/mountain-west\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Mountain West<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re reading this, I\u2019m sure you know by now the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/fbs-cfb-news-unlv-qb-matthew-sluka-nil-deal-rcrc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> situation surrounding Matthew Sluka and UNLV football<\/a>. Or you\u2019ve been keeping tabs on everything that\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/fbs-college-football-realignment-pac-12-mountain-west-merger-stanford-cal-heading-to-aac-cpcp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> unfolding between the Pac-12 and Mountain West<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s been so much going on that it feels like this week\u2019s slate of games and what\u2019s happened during the first four weeks of the season aren\u2019t being discussed. Both programs have had rocky starts to the 2024 campaign.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.betmgm.com\/en\/sports\/football-11\/betting\/usa-9\/college-football-211?utm_source=herosports&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=college_football\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College football betting odds<\/a> had the RedHawks as a favorite to win the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/college-football\/mac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> MAC<\/a> at +225. App State was the favorite to win the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/college-football\/sun-belt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Sun Belt<\/a> at +275. Both were also among the favorites to earn the G5 automatic berth in the College Football Playoff, but that ship has sailed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RedHawks still sit at 5\/1 to win the MAC and have a legit shot at doing so as long as their offense can find some sort of traction. They\u2019ll look to pick up the first win of the season Saturday against UMass.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mountaineers have dropped all the way to 16\/1 to win the Sun Belt, even sitting behind Georgia Southern and Marshall. The Tigers had no answer for Horvath and the Midshipmen\u2019s rushing attack. Then again, no team has.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navy is fourth in the FBS in rushing, averaging 307 yards per game and Horvath ranks seventh in the country, averaging 122 YPG. He\u2019s also given the Midshipmen a passing threat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have made their way into the top 10 in the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/fbs-2024-g5-top-25-media-poll-cfb-rankings-week-5-cpcp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> HERO Sports G5 Top 25<\/a> and sit at +1200 to win the<a href=\"https:\/\/herosports.com\/college-football\/american\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> AAC<\/a>. Not Memphis. Not Liberty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Huskies were the first Group of Five team to be ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 after knocking off Notre Dame in Week 3. They were ranked No. 25, but then were bumped up to No. 23 following their bye week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After last week\u2019s loss to Buffalo, NIU has dropped out of the AP Top 25 but is still a legitimate contender in the MAC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nick-nash-s-emergence\">Nick Nash\u2019s Emergence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The San Jose State wide receiver isn\u2019t new to finding the end zone or making big plays. Nash was a second-team All-MW selection last season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I don\u2019t think many expected Nash to be the best wide receiver in the Mountain West through the first four weeks of the season. His 50 receptions are already more than he had last year, his eight touchdowns are tied for last season\u2019s mark, and with 637 yards, he\u2019s less than 100 yards from eclipsing last year\u2019s total.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nash should be playing on Sundays, and his draft stock rises every Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a week it\u2019s been for the Group of Five.
