Miami (Ohio) is the defending MAC<\/a> champion, and the RedHawks were picked to repeat<\/a> this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the race should be tight, one thing for sure is Miami will be prepared for the rigors of MACtion after a challenging four-game non-league schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually, it\u2019s a challenging three-game schedule that began with last week\u2019s 13-6 loss at Northwestern. After a bye week, the schedule continues on Sept. 14 at home against Cincinnati in the Battle for the Victory Bell. Then Miami visits Notre Dame, which looked formidable in its opening 23-13 win at Texas A&M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miami\u2019s fourth game is at home against UMass, which looks like a W.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Miami jumps right into the meatgrinder of the MAC schedule with an Oct. 5 clash at Toledo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those keeping score, Toledo lost to Miami 24-14 in last year\u2019s MAC Championship and the Rockets were picked second to Miami in the MAC preseason poll. Toledo did beat Miami 21-17 during last year\u2019s regular season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the opening defeat, losing on the road to a Big Ten team is nothing to hang one\u2019s head about, although Miami\u2019s challenge was slightly easier than fellow MAC team Akron, which opened with a 52-6 loss at Ohio State.<\/p>\n\n\n
