There\u2019s plenty of chatter about Texas State ahead of the season, and rightfully so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bobcats are expected to not only be one of the best teams in the Sun Belt<\/a>, but one of the best in the Group of Five<\/a>. They will be one of the programs competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

College football betting odds<\/a> currently have the Bobcats\u2019 Over\/Under for wins at 8.5, with the Over at +120 and the Under at -140. Texas State shocked many last year, winning eight games and going way over last year\u2019s Over\/Under of 4.5 wins. It was also their first winning season since 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a legitimate chance the Bobcats are favored in every game this season. We\u2019ll see if they can play up to expectations and go over their win total once again.<\/p>\n\n\n

How Many Games Will Texas State Win In 2024?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong, winning the Sun Belt is important, and so are those league games, but Texas State\u2019s Week 2 meeting against UTSA could be the most important game on its schedule. There\u2019s a possibility this contest will have major CFP implications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of three games that will test Texas State in the first five weeks. I expect the Bobcats to open the season with a win against Lamar and pick up another victory vs. Sam Houston in Week 5, but the other three games \u2014 at home against UTSA, Arizona State, and on the road at Troy \u2014 will determine whether they go Over 8.5 wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t know which games they will win, but I think the Bobcats will win two of these three. They have never beaten Troy, however, and this might be the season to break that drought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contest against Troy opens Sun Belt play and is followed by a home meeting with Arkansas State and then a trip to Old Dominion. Texas State will handle business in both of these games heading into a bye week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of the bye, the Bobcats host Louisiana in what should be a tough outing, but they might still be favored and come away with a victory. The Bobcats should cruise through their next three contests against ULM, Southern Miss, and Georgia State before visiting South Alabama to close the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If things go the Bobcats\u2019 way throughout the year, there will be a ton to play for and I don\u2019t anticipate South Alabama spoiling their season here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Many Games Will Texas State Lose In 2024?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Not many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t see the Bobcats losing more than three regular season games this season, despite playing in the Sun Belt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most likely game they lose is vs. UTSA, and I think it will be dictated by how well the Bobcats\u2019 defense plays. This has the potential to be the best G5 game of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
